Homelessness Awareness Day – 1/20

The Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition, Chittenden County Homelessness Alliance, and the Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness will host the Vermont Virtual Homelessness Awareness Day and Vigil on January 20 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Join homeless and formerly homeless Vermonters, service and shelter providers, and housing advocates from across the state as they reflect on what can be done in the coming year to end homelessness in Vermont.

LGK “Tests for Tots” Information Session – 1/20

Let’s Grow Kids is hosting a virtual information session with the Vermont Department of Health about Tests for Tots and ongoing COVID response in our early childhood education system on January 20 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Participants will hear directly from Vermont Department of Health representatives and be able to submit questions.

Alliance Monthly Equity Discussion – 1/21

Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance hosts a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom, and the next session is coming up on Friday, January 21 at 1:00 pm.

“Teaching Black History Month All Year Round” will be facilitated by Chris Dodge, a veteran Vermont educator and school principal at Swanton Elementary School. Chris is currently finishing his certificate of advanced graduate study in school law at the University of Connecticut, where much of his learning has focused on equity, social and restorative justice, and anti-racism.

Second Alliance "Legislative Happy Hour" – 1/24

This winter, the Alliance will be hosting four virtual “Legislative Happy Hours” leading up to this year’s ECDL. Each session will focus on one or two issues from the Alliance’s 2022 Legislative Agenda. Joined by representatives from the lead organizations, participants will be able to ask direct questions and hear a brief legislative update regarding the issues. 

The next session will be held Monday, January 24 from 3:30 to 4:15 pm. It will focus on two topics – early childhood education and the Parent Child Center Network.

Hosted by representatives from Let’s Grow Kids, the Vermont Parent Child Center Network, and the Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children, this session is a great opportunity to learn more about early childhood education policy, understand the advocacy efforts to support the Parent Child Center Network, and receive an update on where their issues stand in the Legislature.

VFN Storytelling Event Information Sessions – 1/25 and 1/26

Vermont Family Network (VFN) is hosting two information sessions for their live online storytelling event centered around disabilities and their impact on family life on January 25 at 6:00 pm and January 26 at 12:00 pm. The storytelling event, led by Susanne Schmidt, will culminate on June 3, and will feature people from around the state offering their unique experiences. These information sessions offer a unique way to share stories that will be included in the live event.
