Alliance Monthly Equity Discussion – “Paid Family & Medical Leave: An Equity Issue” – 1/26

Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance hosts a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom. Our next session is coming up on Friday, January 26 at 1:00 pm.

This month we will explore the Paid Family and Medical Leave landscape in Vermont, framing our opportunities and learnings through an equity lens. We will be joined by Charlie Gliserman (Advocacy Director, AARP Vermont) and members of the Vermont Paid Leave Coalition – a community of businesses, non-profits, and everyday Vermonters advocating for the strong paid leave program Vermont families need.

This Equity Salon will focus on disparities in unmet need for paid leave, the elements of an equitable paid leave program, and how paid leave is a tool for promoting health equity.

BBF Releases “The State of Vermont’s Children: 2023 Year in Review”

Last week, Building Bright Futures (BBF) and VermontKidsData.org released The State of Vermont’s Children: 2023 Year in Review. This report provides an objective, data-driven assessment of the well-being of young children and families in Vermont and includes the 2024 Policy Recommendations from Vermont’s Early Childhood State Advisory Council Network.

“Child Care Campaign Update: What to Expect in 2024” – 1/25

Let’s Grow Kids (LGK) will be hosting a virtual “Child Care Campaign Update: What to Expect in 2024” from 7:30 – 8:15 pm on Thursday, January 25. They’ll provide an update on Act 76 implementation, discuss the 2024 legislative session, and look ahead to what’s coming later this year, including their campaign’s plans for Town Meeting Day.

STARS Implementation Information Session – 2/16

The Winooski Valley Superintendents Association partnership is hosting an online presentation and discussion with STARS director Courtney Isham and the STARS team on February 16 from 9:30am to 11:00am. The session will be geared toward Universal Prekindergarten programs (community and public school), Early Education programs with questions about STARS, and people supporting programs in completing STARS renewals.

Included in the discussion is a STARS Overview and information about the Continuous Quality Improvement Implementation (CQI), nuts and bolts of CQI, and an opportunity to have questions answered that were submitted on the registration form.
