Alliance Legislative Agenda: Weekly Issue Spotlight – Doula Coverage and Perinatal Loss – 2/5

This winter, the Alliance is hosting virtual Weekly Issue Spotlights leading up to ECDL. Each session focuses on one or two issues from the Alliance’s 2024 Legislative Agenda. Joined by representatives from the lead organizations, participants can ask direct questions and hear a brief legislative update regarding the issues.

The next session will be held Monday, February 5, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, and focuses on two issues on our Legislative Agenda – Access to Doula Coverage: Medicaid Coverage for Community Doula Care, and Perinatal Loss: Funding to Expand Peer Support.

Led by Maria Rossi, MSW, Social Worker/Doula/Advocate from the Vermont Doula Access Coalition and Chelsea Levis from Empty Arms Vermont, this session is a great opportunity to learn more about these issues, where they stand in the Legislature, and how to get involved.

Strolling Thunder Application Deadline Extended – 2/2

ZERO TO THREE, a nationwide early childhood organization that works to ensure that babies and toddlers benefit from the early connections that are critical to their well-being and development, is looking for a Vermont parent/guardian and their baby or toddler (under the age of three) to participate in this year’s Strolling Thunder, an in-person event held in Washington, D.C., to bring national attention to what babies – and families – need to thrive.

On April 30, ZERO TO THREE will bring 51 families with a baby under three – one from every state and Washington, DC – to Capitol Hill for Strolling Thunder. No advocacy experience is necessary. ZERO TO THREE will cover travel expenses and will provide selected families with training and support for their meetings with their Members of Congress.
