Family and Medical Leave Press Event – 2/7

Planning is underway for a press conference to be held next Tuesday, February 7 at 12:00 pm in the Cedar Creek Room of the State House in Montpelier to call for the enactment of a comprehensive, universal paid leave insurance program in Vermont.

The event will also mark the 30th anniversary of the passage of the federal (unpaid) Family and Medical Leave Act.

Education for Social Justice Conference – Call for Proposals – Due 2/16

The Education Justice Coalition of Vermont, the Vermont Educators of Color Association, and other ally groups are planning their first annual Education for Social Justice conference to be held in South Royalton on April 1.

They are currently accepting applications from educators and students for engaging workshops with the goal to support and empower participants to be advocates for justice in their schools and communities

Applications Open for VTAEYC Exchange Fellows – Due 2/23

The Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children (VTAYEC) is now accepting applications for six new Fellows to take part in the VTAEYC Exchange. The Exchange aims to inspire learning and action where early childhood intersects with society’s most pressing issues. The Fellows chosen will lead their experience of learning, acting, and contributing to the Exchange’s current “Intersections”: Young Children x Our Planet, Young Children x Our Communities, and Young Children x Our Diversity.

3SquaresVT Conference – Call for Proposals – Due 2/8

Hunger Free Vermont (HFV), the Department for Children and Families, and statewide food security advocates will be hosting their two-day 3SquaresVT Outreach and Policy Conference on April 12 and 13 that will help participants to gain a deeper knowledge of 3SquaresVT with special focus on their four themes: advocacy, education, outreach, and policy.

HFV welcomes proposals by February 8 for conference presentations on a wide range of topics. There will also be a virtual info-hall of partners' outreach materials, flyers, and reports. For more information and to submit a proposal, visit the HFV website.

Registration Open for “Afterschool Essentials” Program – 3/14

Vermont Afterschool has opened its Spring session registration for Afterschool Essentials, the accelerated half-year program that is offered free for afterschool staff working in licensed afterschool programs. This learning opportunity beginning March 14 will benefit the newly hired professional working directly with children, those with limited experience, or a new program director who has not worked in this setting before.

Join us IN-PERSON for the 29th Annual Early Childhood Day at the Legislature (ECDL) on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in Montpelier! The issues on our 2023 Legislative Agenda will play central roles at this year’s ECDL.

Join the Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance, early childhood professionals, parents, employers, and policymakers to:

• Meet with legislators about early childhood issues
• Attend workshops on current topics
• Take action at the State House
• Network and exchange information
