VTAEYC Names Vermont Educator of the Year

Callie Weller, Pre-K teacher at Calais Elementary School has been named Vermont's 2021 Educator of the year by the Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children (VTAEYC). The annual award recognized exceptional early childhood educators and highlights the importance of high-quality early childhood education.

Vermont Afterschool Conference - 11/12

On November 12, Vermont Afterschool is hosting a virtual conference that will focus on best practices for out-of-school time programming, youth development, social emotional learning, and expanded learning opportunities. The conference will offer three hours of training with time included to hear from state leaders as well as networking opportunities with programs and providers from around the state.

More Community Meetings on Federal Funds Scheduled

House Speaker Jill Krowinski and Senate President Pro Tem Becca Balint have announced the final round of community conversations on the use of federal stimulus funds awarded to Vermont.

The “Investing in Vermont’s Future Community” conversations are taking place regionally, and an online questionnaire has been created to include voices not typically heard in the legislative process. All the events are virtual.

The first event in this final round of meetings will take place on Oct. 28, with others scheduled throughout November.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
