BBF Regional Council Summit – 12/12

Building Bright Futures (BBF) is hosting a Regional Council Summit on December 12 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in-person and via Zoom. The event will include a keynote by Dr. Joshua Sparrow, Executive Director of the Brazelton Touchpoints Center in the Division of Developmental Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, who will speak about social connectedness. The event will feature a panel discussion highlighting the work being done across the state to respond to the need for social connectedness, healing, and community building.

Register on Zoom to attend in person or to get the meeting link. The in-person meeting will be held at Counseling Services of Addison County, 109 Catamount Park, Middlebury, VT.

 

HFV Virtual End Hunger Briefing – 11/29

Hunger Free Vermont (HFV) is hosting a Virtual End Hunger Briefing on November 29, from 10:00 to 11:00am. They will provide an update on the status of hunger in Vermont by the numbers, and discuss the challenges still faced in ending hunger in Vermont.

Presentations will review the effectiveness and sunsetting of anti-hunger initiatives following the COVID-19 pandemic, discuss the historic flooding and its impacts on food security, as well as preview upcoming advocacy work. There will be time at the end for questions, and a recording of the event will be sent out following the briefing for those who cannot make it.

The Alliance's parent organization, the Vermont Community Loan Fund (VCLF), is a mission-driven, community-focused alternative lender that provides loans and other resources to local businesses, community organizations and nonprofits, early care and learning providers, and developers of affordable housing who don’t qualify for a loan from a traditional lender.

This month, VCLF released their 2023 Social Impact Report that highlights the community-empowering work they have done in the previous year. The VCLF loan portfolio impacts for 2022 include 170 children enrolled in early care and learning programs, 261 affordable homes built and rehabilitated, and 457 jobs created and preserved.

Save the Date – VFN Annual Conference – 4/2/24

Vermont Family Network (VFN) is holding its 2024 Annual Conference on April 2, 2024, at the UVM Davis Center from 9:00am to 4:15pm. 

The day will feature a keynote address from former State Representative Maida Townsend and a full day, in-depth, interactive training on legislative advocacy.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
