Alliance Monthly Equity Discussion – 11/19 Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance hosts a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom, and the next session is coming up on Friday, November 19 at 1:00 pm. This month’s session, “Winter Holiday Perils and Possibilities,” will be facilitated by Alliance Executive Director Matt Levin. He will provide one Jewish person’s perspective on the challenges and opportunities that come with public celebrations of the traditional December holidays in classrooms, offices, waiting rooms, and break rooms. BBF Statewide Regional Council Summit – 12/1 The Building Bright Futures (BBF) Statewide Regional Council Summit will be held on Dec. 1 from 1:30-3:00 pm. This virtual gathering is for current BBF Regional Council members and anyone who is invested in the well-being of children and families. Discussion topics will include how Councils are addressing priorities to improve child and family outcomes; identifying challenges children and families face in accessing the services they need; and, how to strengthen communication and feedback opportunities in the next year to build a more integrated, well-resourced, and data informed system. VTAEYC Fall Conference Continues 11/8 – 9 Registration is continuing for the Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children (VTAEYC) Fall Conference. This year’s online format features three separate sessions, spread out over a six-week period. Each session of the conference will include an evening plenary session and a follow up workshop session offered twice the next day. All sessions are eligible for professional development hours, approved by Northern Lights at CCV. This session will feature Kheya Ganguly, Director of Trauma Prevention & Resilience Development for the Vermont Department of Mental Health. She will discuss the importance of early childhood professionals incorporating resilience strategies in their work and how it benefits themselves and the children and families they serve. A panel of Vermont early childhood professionals including a Head Start mental health consultant and an early childhood family mental health professional will speak to their experiences and successful support strategies.
