Alliance "Legislative Happy Hour" – Universal School Meals and Paid Family and Medical Leave – 2/27

This winter, the Alliance will be hosting virtual “Legislative Happy Hours” leading up to this year’s ECDL. Each session will focus on one or two issues from the Alliance’s 2023 Legislative Agenda. Joined by representatives from the lead organizations, participants will be able to hear a brief legislative update regarding the issues and ask follow-up questions. 

The next session will be held Monday, February 27 from 3:30 to 4:15 pm. It will focus on Universal School Meals and Paid Family and Medical Leave, and will be led by Teddy Waszazak from Hunger Free Vermont and Michelle Fay from Voices for Vermont’s Children.

Alliance Monthly Equity Discussion – “Windows and Mirrors – Personal Reflections” – 2/24

Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance hosts a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom, and the next session is coming up on Friday, February 24 at 1:00 pm.

This month’s session, “Windows and Mirrors – Personal Reflections,” will be a discussion facilitated by Matt Levin, the Alliance's Executive Director. The session will begin with the consideration of inward-looking questions posed in an equity session Alliance staff recently participated in. This will be a free-flowing discussion, guided by participants' contributions.

LGK Courage to Care Rally – 4/12

Let’s Grow Kids (LGK) is hosting a Courage to Care Rally on Wednesday, April 12, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on the State House Lawn in Montpelier to support lawmakers in getting a child care solution over the finish line this year. Legislators are working on a bill to make long-term public investment in our state’s child care system that will revitalize our economy, support our children, families, and early childhood educators, and shape future generations.

Register for an In-Person ECDL '23!

Over 50 people have already registered for the IN-PERSON 29th Annual Early Childhood Day at the Legislature (ECDL) on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in Montpelier! The issues on our 2023 Legislative Agenda will play central roles at this year’s ECDL.

Scholarships and professional development will be available. Contact Taylor Hughey, Alliance Outreach Manager, at with any questions.

**Note that although we are using a Zoom Event Registration Platform for registration this year, ECDL is entirely IN-PERSON in Montpelier! We want to be prepared in case we have to make a last-minute switch to a virtual conference if the public health situation changes before March.


The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
