Early Childhood Day at the Legislature

Early Childhood Day at the Legislature (ECDL) is an annual day of advocacy, education, and networking co-hosted by the Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance, Let's Grow Kids, and Building Bright Futures, that brings together early childhood professionals and providers, parents, employers, business owners, and policymakers to engage on early childhood issues. Register online, plus find a full agenda and download the registration flyer at the bottom of this page to share with your networks.

The agenda for this 25th annual event includes issue and advocacy workshops, lunch with Legislators, state house tours, a rally, a birthday party celebrating 25 years of ECDL, and more.

Registration for this important day of advocacy closes on March 8, 2019; this is a firm deadline.

ECDL Preparation Webinars

The Alliance is hosting two webinars to prepare ECDL participants for this day of advocacy. Join one of the following webinars for a primer on the issues on the Alliance's 2019 Legislative Agenda and an overview of the Legislative process. A recording of the first webinar will be made available for those who are unable to attend.

Sharing Wishes for Early Childhood at ECDL

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance, Let's Grow Kids, and Building Bright Futures are celebrating the 25th annual year of Early Childhood Day at the Legislature (ECDL). To mark the occasion, this year's event will include a birthday party and advocates will be sharing Vermonters' "wishes" for children with the Legislature.

Legislators want to hear your vision for the future! To submit a wish (for yourself or children, those you work with, or children in general), share 1 to 2 sentences and a photo that represents your wish as it relates to the following categories:

  • Early care

  • Education

  • Health

  • Safety

  • Food security

  • Economic security

Please submit wishes by email to Sarah Galbraith at sarah@vecaa.org and include your name and your town of residence.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
