Hunger Free Vermont is collecting letters, photographs, drawings, notes, and collages from community members to share with legislators to let them know why school meals are important and what they mean for students, families, and schools across the state.

Survey to Inform Policy on Child Development and Education in Vermont

The Building Bright Futures State Advisory Council invites you to respond to an anonymous survey by this Friday, March 5, to inform early childhood development and education policy and gather feedback on the proposal by the Governor to restructure the Child Development Division of the state’s Agency of Human Services.

This survey is part of a larger information gathering effort regarding the proposed plan by the Governor and Agency leadership on a cradle-to-career vision. The February 22 Building Bright Futures State Advisory Council meeting included a presentation from Education Secretary French and Department for Children and Families Commissioner Brown. A recording of that presentation is now available online.

Do you want to talk about the issues you care about with Vermont’s Congressional delegation? Zero to Three is looking for a Vermont family with a baby or toddler to join other families from around the country in sharing their stories with federal policymakers on May 18 at their virtual “Strolling Thunder” event.

Early Childhood Day at the Legislature is next Wednesday, March 10, and the deadline to register is this Friday, March 5. Register today to learn more about priority issues in the State House and talk with your legislators about the issues you care about!

Other features of the day include a keynote speech from Vermont’s Executive Director of Racial Equity, Xusana Davis, remarks from other senior state officials, opportunities to network, and more.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
