Alliance ‘25 Legislative Agenda Issue Spotlight – Legislative Session Updates – 3/31

The Alliance’s series of virtual Issue Spotlights, which focus on issues from the Alliance’s 2025 Legislative Agenda, continues next week.

The next session will be held Monday, March 31, from 3:30 to 4:15 pm, and will provide updates on the status of all of the issues on the Alliance’s ’25 Legislative Agenda.

Led by Matt Levin, the Executive Director of the Alliance, this session is a great opportunity to learn more about the issues on our ’25 Legislative Agenda, where they stand in the Legislature, and how to get involved.

Vermont Commission on Women Pay Equity Cafe – 4/8

The Vermont Commission on Women is hosting a discussion in the State House Cafeteria on April 8 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am to highlight pay equity.  Topics of discussion will include closing the wage gap, valuing unpaid and underpaid care work, and desegregating occupations.

CCFAP Guidelines Updated

The Child Care Financial Assistance Program (CCFAP) Income Guidelines are being updated to reflect the new 2025 Federal Poverty Levels (FPL). This means that some families may qualify for a lower weekly family share and some new families may be eligible for CCFAP.

The changes are included in the updated CCFAP Income Guidelines available on the CCFAP website. The changes went into effect on Sunday, March 23.

Early Childhood Day at the Legislature (ECDL) was a huge success this year, with over 200 attendees and 55 legislators coming together to discuss early childhood issues, attend workshops on current topics, and network and exchange information. The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
