Registration Open for Early Childhood Educators Institute 2024

The Eighth Annual Early Childhood Educators Institute will be live online July 30, August 1, August 6, and August 8 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Institute is geared toward early childhood or primary teachers (birth to grade 3), special educators, home visitors, and related service/CIS personnel.

Landon Innovation Awards – Applications Open

The Turrell Fund’s annual S. Whitney Landon Awards recognize and applaud early childhood programs in Vermont that employ exemplary practices, and that include innovative approaches for promoting child and family well‐being that can be replicated to broaden impact.

As in past years, this year’s total grant pool is $30,000. Applicants may request up to $5,000. The online application process will be managed by the Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation.

Alliance Monthly Equity Discussion – “Creating an Internal DEI Committee” – 5/17 

Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance hosts a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom. Our next session is coming up on Friday, May 17, at 1:00 pm.

This month we will hear from two colleagues involved in setting up and running internal DEI Committees in their respective organizations. The discussion will be led by Ben Green, Business Navigator and Resource Manager at the Vermont Community Loan Fund, and Chad Simmons, Housing Policy and Engagement Specialist at the Vermont Housing Finance Agency.

Life is Good Playmakers Training Registration – 6/4

The Healing Together Project of the Vermont Network is bringing Boston's Life is Good Playmaker Project pros to Vermont for a session on how to play and facilitate play on June 4 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This will take place at the Vermont College of Fine Arts Alumni Hall, 45 College Street, Montpelier.

The goal of this session is to provide training and support for professionals who create positive relationships and joy-filled environments that children need to heal, learn, and thrive, and is geared towards folks who regularly engage with/provide direct service to children and youth.

Voices for Vermont’s Children 40th Anniversary Celebration – 6/6

Voices for Vermont’s Children will be commemorating 40 years of child advocacy on June 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Old Labor Hall in Barre. They’ll recognize champions for kids, past and present, while building a Vermont where every child gets to thrive.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
