Alliance Monthly Equity Discussion – “Creating an Internal DEI Committee” – 5/17

Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance hosts a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom. Our next session is coming up on Friday, May 17, at 1:00 pm.

This month we will hear from two colleagues involved in setting up and running internal DEI Committees in their respective organizations. The discussion will be led by Ben Green, Business Navigator and Resource Manager at the Vermont Community Loan Fund, and Chad Simmons, Housing Policy and Engagement Specialist at the Vermont Housing Finance Agency.

CDDF State Plan Public Hearings – 5/28

The Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) is a federal and state partnership program that guides and provides funding for Vermont’s child care system. The Child Development Division (CDD) is the lead agency that receives CCDF funding for the State of Vermont. Every three years, CDD must complete a State Plan that describes how the Division plans to use funds in alignment with federal requirements.

As part of the State Plan’s development, CDD is planning to engage with stakeholders and the public by gathering feedback through public hearings and comment periods. Join one of two upcoming hearings on Tuesday, May 28. The hearings will be held at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Each hearing will last up to 90 minutes. Please limit comments to no more than 3 minutes. You can also submit written comments through the online comment form. Written comments will be accepted through June 7, 2024.

For more information, and for the links to attend the public hearings, visit the CDDF website.

Northern Lights Professional Development Survey – Closes 5/31

Each year, Northern Lights at CCV seeks feedback from the early childhood and afterschool workforce for thoughts about training topics, how you like to learn, and what supports you’d like to see in the next year. Survey results will be summarized and shared with all professional development sponsors and statewide partners so your voice can help inform professional development planning across the state.

This survey takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete.  Participants can enter to win a copy of the new edition of “Spotlight on Young Children: Challenging Behavior”, which is set to be released this summer.

Complete the survey here. It will close on May 31, 2024.
