Alliance Equity Discussion - 5/21, 1:00 pm

Join a group of peers from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about antiracism and diversity, equity, and inclusion! The Alliance has established a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom, and the next session is coming up this Friday, May 21, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

This session will be facilitated by Matt Levin, Alliance Executive Director.  The theme of this session will be “Reflecting on Our Own DEI Efforts.” Two short readings will be shared with the session. One is a reflection on efforts to bring Black History Month into a Vermont classroom, and another is on the validity and meaning of verbal land acknowledgements.

Email Dan Brown, Alliance Public Engagement Director, at dan@vecaa.org to register.

Upcoming Child Care and Development Fund State Plan Public Hearing - 6/2, 5:30 pm

The Child Development Division will be holding a public hearing on the state’s use of Child Care and Development Funds (CCDF) on Wednesday, June 2 at 5:30 pm.

The Child Care and Development Block Grant provides CCDF to states in order to improve access to affordable, high quality services for low income working families.  CCDF is also used to support information and child referral services for families and to improve the quality of child care services in the state.

All states are required to submit information to the federal Office of Child Care in the Agency of Health and Human Services on the state’s use of CCDF and other funds every three years.  Vermont’s current plan (FFY 2019-2021) is available online at https://dcf.vermont.gov/cdd/reports.

A proposed draft plan for Federal Fiscal Year 2022-2024 is currently being developed and a draft will be available the last week of May.

Join the virtual meeting here on Wednesday, June 2 at 5:30 pm.
