VTAEYC Accepting Nominations for Early Childhood Educator of the Year

The Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children’s (VTAEYC) is accepting nominations for Early Childhood Educator of the Year and five other awards. The Early Childhood Educator of the Year is a prestigious annual award presented by VTAEYC and sponsored by Let’s Grow Kids. This award honors exceptional early childhood educators and spotlights the importance of high-quality early childhood education for Vermont’s children, families, and communities.

The 2024 winner will receive a $2,500 prize and all expenses paid to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Conference.

Alliance Monthly Equity Discussion – “Creating an Internal DEI Committee” – 5/17 

Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance hosts a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom. Our next session is coming up on Friday, May 17, at 1:00 pm.

This month we will hear from two colleagues involved in setting up and running internal DEI Committees in their respective organizations. The discussion will be led by Ben Green, Business Navigator and Resource Manager at the Vermont Community Loan Fund, and Chad Simmons, Housing Policy and Engagement Specialist at the Vermont Housing Finance Agency.

 

Advancing as a Profession Leaders: Roundtable Updates – First Session 5/14

The Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children (VTAEYC) will be hosting 45-minute roundtables for early childhood educators engaged with the work to advance ECE as a profession in Vermont. Learn what’s the latest, ask questions, offer feedback, share advocacy successes, and connect with other early childhood educators throughout the state engaged in this work.

These roundtables are open to any workforce member or stakeholder engaged or interested in advancing early childhood education as a profession, though familiarity with the initiative and the Unifying Framework for the Early Childhood Education Profession is helpful. Please note, there are no professional development hours associated with this roundtable.

Alliance Annual Meeting – Join/Renew Your Membership

Join advocates from around the state on the afternoon of May 28 at the Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich for the Alliance’s Annual Membership Meeting.

The event starts at 1:00 pm with registration, followed by workshops on the results of Alliance’s 2024 Legislative Agenda and an information session for new Alliance members. The Meeting will also feature elections for seats on the Alliance Steering Committee, and a panel discussion about the special characteristics of multi-year advocacy campaigns.

The Meeting concludes with a social hour and an opportunity to network with other members of the early childhood community.
