Alliance Monthly Equity Discussion – “Exploring Trauma Informed Care” – 6/28

Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance hosts a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom. Our next session is coming up on Friday, June 28, at 1:00 pm.

This month we will be talking about trauma -- what it is, how you define trauma-informed care and policy, and its connection to human rights and equity. The discussion will be led by Eric Ruiz, Director of Mental Health & Substance Use Services for Vermont Care Partners. VCP is a statewide network of sixteen non-profit community-based agencies providing mental health, substance use, and intellectual and developmental disability services and supports.

Summer Meals for Children 0 to 18

Summer meals help fill the gap when school is out and ensure that children come back to school well-nourished and ready to learn. At summer meal sites, all children 0-18 eat for free – no paperwork, no registration, no I.D. needed. These sites will continue to open through July. To find a site, dial 211, text food to 304-304, or visit the Hunger Free Vermont website.

Advancing as a Profession Leaders: Roundtable Updates – Next Session 7/23

The Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children (VTAEYC) will be hosting 45-minute roundtables for early childhood educators engaged with the work to advance early childhood education as a profession in Vermont. Participants can learn about the latest developments, ask questions, offer feedback, share advocacy successes, and connect with other early childhood educators throughout the state engaged in this work.

These roundtables are open to any workforce member or stakeholder engaged or interested in advancing early childhood education as a profession, though familiarity with the initiative and the “Unifying Framework” for the early childhood education profession is helpful. Please note, there are no professional development hours associated with this roundtable.
