| |  | NAEYC 100th Birthday Celebration and Art Exhibit – 8/1 The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and VTAEYC is hosting an event on August 1 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Winooski High School to celebrate. The event will feature remarks from Executive Director Sharron Harrington and stories from early childhood educators across the state. Enjoy light refreshments, participate in interactive activities, and connect with colleagues, partners, and friends to honor a century of advocacy, collaboration, and commitment to young children and those who care for them. While you’re attending the VTAEYC event, also visit an art exhibit, Early Childhood Education, Mosaic of Marks, Words, Material, now on display at Winooski School. It comes from Reggio Children, a teaching institute in Italy for the internationally renowned Reggio Approach to early childhood education. The exhibit offers an important perspective to current-state level conversations on reforming our public early education system. The exhibit is free and open to the public for drop-in visits and self-guided tours on select dates now through Aug 13. | | | |  | BBF Call for Policy Recommendation Feedback – 8/6 and 8/13 Over the next few months, Building Bright Futures (BBF) will be formulating Policy Recommendations for the 2027 legislative session. The process includes compiling input gathered over the past year from Early Childhood Strategic Plan Committees, Regional Councils, families, program leaders, and state agencies, and sharing that information for discussion during BBF Network meetings in August and September. Parents, guardians, and caregivers of young children are invited to join a Strategic Plan Committee Meeting to provide feedback. The Families and Communities Committee, a group of parents, guardians, caregivers, and professionals meets virtually on the first Thursday of each month from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. The next meeting is Thursday, August 6. The Early Learning and Development Committee brings together public and private partners who meet regularly to review progress, identify challenges, and support coordinated system improvement for children and families. The committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The next meeting is Thursday, August 13. The day will include live music, face painting, arts and crafts, and more, family-friendly lawn games like cornhole, parachutes, and hula hoops; delicious local food trucks serving barbecue, gyros, empanadas, chicken kebabs; and community partner booths featuring family resources, activities, and information.
