Vermont Farm to School Network Gathering - Aug. 17

The Vermont Farm to School Network is hosting an outdoor gathering on Tuesday, August 17 at the Lareau Farm in Waitsfield, VT starting at 1 p.m. Join peers and colleagues from around the state to discuss farm to school strategies for next year, celebrate legislative wins, highlight progress, and enjoy flatbread and drinks.

Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition and Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness Joint Meeting - Sept. 15

Each year, the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition (VAHC) and the Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness (VCEH) join to host a joint meeting to bring advocates and service providers together to set the stage for the next year of work to end homelessness and increase affordable housing in Vermont.

This year’s joint annual meeting will take place virtually on Wednesday, September 15 and begin at 9 a.m. Events will include an informal session to allow everyone to meet the new VAHC director, David Martins and the new VCEH director, Martin Hahn.

Highlights from Shelburne Farms Summer Learning Program

This summer, Shelburne Farms collaborated with the Winooski School District to create a summer school program that included both time on the working farm campus and in the classroom. Students of all ages were able to learn about natural systems and sustainability, all while seeing these ideas in action.

Landon Innovation Awards Deadline - 9/15

There is still time to apply for the S. Whitney Landon Awards, presented each year by the Turrell Fund to programs that achieved breakthrough status in the delivery of services to the youngest at-risk children and their families.

For the 2021 awards, the Fund is focusing on topics that are being addressed in their Early Learning and Development Exchange initiative: Climate Change and Early Learning and Development; More Than Hope (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion); and the Scope of Early Learning and Development.

The application is open until September 15. Award decisions will be announced by October 15.

 

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
