NOFA Farm Share – Applications Due 8/31

The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA) Farm Share Program provides fresh, local foods to Vermonters in need of financial assistance via CSA shares reduced 25-75% in cost. 

The Farm Share Program was established for Vermonters to access more healthy, local food while ensuring farmers are fully compensated for their work. The program has grown from serving a dozen individual families and three farms in 1995 to over 560 Vermont families and more than 60 farms in 2025.

Applications are due August 31.

Protect Head Start Calling for Public Comments – Due 10/6

Head Start is the primary federal program that provides early childhood developmental support and services to young children and their families with the lowest incomes.

The program is currently facing a proposed federal rule (NPRM, or Notice of Proposed Rulemaking) to eliminate most of the critical program performance standards supporting health, safety, and quality within Head Start.

The Vermont Head Start Association (VHSA) is calling on Head Start families and alums, as well as every educator and community member who believes every child deserves a strong start, to submit public comments rejecting this proposal. Public comment is open through October 6.

Registration is now open for the 2026 Lights On Afterschool, the national showcase for afterschool and summer learning programs. The event is an opportunity to join more than 8,000 communities and 1 million Americans in celebrating the amazing work afterschool programs do to ensure our youth are active, engaged, connected, and heard.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early childhood education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
