Applications Open for VT Act 76 Readiness Payment Program

The Vermont Department for Children and Families Child Development Division announces a new program to support child care, preschool, and afterschool programs with stabilization, expansion, and quality.  

The 2023 Child Care and Early Childhood Education law (Act 76) created the Readiness Payment Program (see full program overview) to support child care, preschool, and afterschool programs to "get ready" for the expansion of the Child Care Financial Assistance Program (CCFAP) and other changes in Act 76. Programs have flexibility in how they use the payments to support stability, expansion, and quality.

Applications opened August 25, and will remain open until all available funds are committed. Please submit one application per license.

Inaugural Vermont Early Childhood Grand Rounds Seminar – 9/13

Building Bright Futures (BBF) is hosting their inaugural Early Childhood Grand Rounds on September 13 at 12:30 pm on Zoom. Early Childhood Grand Rounds provide a forum to elevate and disseminate high-quality data or data-related topics that affect Vermont’s early childhood sector, as well as national best practices. This seminar series is hosted by Vermont’s Early Childhood Data and Policy Center, which is operated by Vermont’s Early Childhood State Advisory Council, BBF.

The September session will feature three national experts, Dr. Iheoma Iruka, Carlise King, and Dr. Shantel Meek, in a panel discussion on equity-related early childhood data efforts.

Vermont Afterschool Conference – 11/2 and 11/3

On November 2 and 3, Vermont Afterschool is hosting their 14th annual conference at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee. The Conference will bring together Vermont’s out-of-school time directors, staff, educators, and partners for interactive workshops, networking, and celebration of the important work that is done for Vermont’s children, youth, and families.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
