Ballots Being Mailed – Is Your Voter Information Accurate?
Great news -- all Vermont voters will be mailed a ballot for the November General Election.
But that ballot won’t reach you if your contact information is not correct. Make sure your voter information and mailing address are up to date by August 31 at mvp.vermont.gov, or with your Town Clerk, to prevent delays receiving your ballot.
And don’t forget to vote!
Alliance Equity Discussion – “Decolonizing History” – 9/17
Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance has established a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom, and the next session is coming up on Friday, September 16 at 1:00 pm.
In the September session we will be discussing decolonizing history, especially surrounding Columbus Day and Thanksgiving. Origin myths are a powerful tool but obscure and distort the history of Indigenous people and perpetuate harmful stereotypes. The session will be facilitated by Melody Mackin. Melody is an educator, mom, and artist who works at the Atowi Project. She is a citizen of the Elnu Band. She has been an adjunct professor for 15 years and often lectures on a variety of topics, including Abenaki history, women’s issues, and Abenaki political history.

BBF Regional Grants – Applications Due 10/7, Info Session 9/19
Building Bright Futures (BBF) announces a second round of grants that are available from the Vermont Early Childhood Fund (VECF) to support creative solutions to improve the well-being of children (prenatal–age 8), families, and the Vermont communities in which they live.
Each year, BBF Regional Councils identify two key issues impacting children and families in each of the 12 BBF regions. Recognizing the expertise of Regional Councils and in order to use the funds most effectively, the VECF uses these regional priorities to guide the investment of $100,000 to fund regional creative solutions. With this guidance, BBF will provide grants of $10,000–$20,000 directly to grantees thanks to funding from the Sunflower Fund at the Vermont Community Foundation.
To find out more about the grant program, you can join a virtual Information Session on September 19 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The deadline to submit an application is October 7. For more information, visit the BBF website.
