Early Childhood Fund Grant Applications Open – 8/12

The next application period for the Building Bright Futures’ (BBF) Vermont Early Childhood Fund (VECF) grants will open on August 12. VECF grants support creative solutions to improve the well-being of children, their families, and Vermont communities where they live. These grants are open to nonprofits, businesses, municipalities, and schools. To be eligible, projects should focus on families and children from the prenatal period through age eight.

Child Care Financial Assistance Program Focus Groups – Apply by 8/16

Child Trends, a national research organization, is conducting focus groups with parents and caregivers in Vermont. Child Trends is currently recruiting parents/caregivers who participate in the Child Care Financial Assistance Program (CCFAP), have young children in child care programs and do not participate in CCFAP, or are in need of child care and do not participate in CCFAP.

Child Trends will provide all chosen participants a $50 Amazon, Walmart, or Hannaford’s e-gift card. These 90-minute focus groups will take place in person or virtually depending on scheduling.

To join a focus group, complete this short survey by August 16.

 

Early Childhood Leadership Institute – Applications Due 9/1

The Snelling Center for Government is now accepting applications for their Early Childhood Leadership Institute (ECLI). 

ECLI was initiated in 2014 and seeks to stimulate enthusiasm for and effective participation in efforts to improve early childhood work in Vermont. In twelve seminar days over six months, participants gain leadership skills and a deeper knowledge and understanding of themselves as leaders and the science and landscape of early childhood issues in Vermont.

The application process is highly competitive, with up to twenty-five associates selected on the basis of their achievements, demonstrated interest in early childhood issues, and potential for leadership.

The ECLI Class of 2025 will begin its training in November of 2024. Applications are due September 1. For more detailed information including program fees and expectations, visit the Snelling Center website.

 

Registration Open for Vermont Afterschool Conference – 10/24 and 10/25

Registration is now open for Vermont Afterschool's 15th Annual Conference. The Conference will be held Thursday and Friday, October 24-25, at Sugarbush Resort in Warren. 

Thursday will feature a half-day, professional development deep-dive specifically for out-of-school time directors and site coordinators. Friday will once again bring together Vermont's out-of-school time directors, staff, educators, and partners for a full day of learning, an inspiring keynote, networking, and celebration of the important work done for Vermont’s children, youth, and families.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
