CVOEO Vermont Tenants Workshop – 9/24

As part of their Housing Advocacy Programs, the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO) offers free monthly Vermont Tenants workshops, both live and recorded, along with their Tenants Hotline.

Join live over Zoom on September 24, from 12:00 - 1:00 pm for their Finding Housing workshop. This session offers strategies for overcoming common barriers to securing housing, understanding the landlord’s perspective, and building a positive tenant-landlord relationship, while providing practical skills for conducting an organized housing search. Alliance Monthly Equity Discussion – “VTAEYC Exchange Diversity Fellowship” – 9/27  

Join a group of peers and colleagues from the early childhood community to engage in sustained learning about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion. The Alliance hosts a monthly, salon-style Equity Discussion Group via Zoom. Our next session is coming up on Friday, September 27, at 1:00 pm. 

This month we will be learning about the Diversity Fellowship that is part of VT Assoc. for Young Children's (VTAEYC) Exchange program. The Exchange was started in 2022 and aims to inspire learning and action through advocacy in areas where early childhood intersects with society’s most pressing issues. The Diversity fellows will be hosting conversations and sharing information about our diversity as a strength, listening for ideas that can promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and ways to include these values in what we do with and for young children. Our discussion will be led by Beth Wallace, VTAEYC's Associate Director for Early Childhood Educator Engagement.

Applications Open for BEGAP Grant

For child care providers or small businesses impacted by this summer's flooding, applications are now open for the Business Emergency Gap Assistance Program (BEGAP). This grant program supports repairs to physical damage in 2023 or 2024. The application portal will close on November 15.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
