Housing Town Hall Meetings – 9/27 and 10/25

Over the last few months, the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition (VAHC) has been hosting a once-a-month virtual Town Hall Meeting of their membership, legislators, and all interested Vermonters in each region of Vermont. The purpose of these meetings is to identify gaps and barriers to affordable housing, discuss solutions, and strengthen communities.​

There are two meetings remaining – one focusing on Southeast VT on September 27, and on Southwest VT on October 25. Both take place from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

Vermont Afterschool Conference – 10/28

On October 28, Vermont Afterschool’s annual conference in taking place in-person at the Stoweflake Mountain Resort in Stowe. The event will bring together Vermont’s out-of-school time directors, staff, educators, and partners for a full day of interactive workshops, networking, and celebration of the important work that is done for Vermont’s children, youth, and families.

VFN is Hiring

The Vermont Family Network (VFN) is hiring for a Communication Coordinator and a Family Support Consultant-Mental Health. The Communication Coordinator will be charged with creating a plan to expand visibility and connections to underserved populations throughout Vermont. The Family Support Consultant-Mental Health position will support families who have children experiencing mental health or emotional behavioral issues.

“Room for Me” Grant – Applications Due 11/15

Vermont Afterschool along with the Vermont Child Development Division is working expand existing afterschool and summer programs and start new ones so that any youth in need of an afterschool or summer spot can say, "there's room for me."

The new “Room for Me” grants are now available to expand access and increase spots for school-age children (ages 5–12 years) served by early childhood and afterschool programs in Vermont, and reduce gaps in Vermont’s current afterschool and summer system.

The Vermont Early Childhood Advocacy Alliance is a statewide coalition formed in 2000 of early childhood professionals, parents, organizations, businesses, and strategic partners committed to improving public policies that impact young children between birth and age eight in the areas of health, safety, food security, economic security, and early care and education.

The Alliance crafts an annual Legislative Agenda in partnership with early childhood organizations, provides year-round advocacy support, and facilitates meaningful interactions with policymakers at key times during the decision making process.
