Introducing the Alliance’s New Public Engagement Director – Beverly Boget

The Alliance is pleased to announce that this week Beverly Boget has joined our staff as our new Public Engagement Director. 

Beverly Boget will be supporting Alliance members as they work together to improve public policies that impact young children and their families. She brings experience working in a variety of private and public settings to help advance the health and well-being of Vermonters. Her previous experience in public and private organizations includes work related to children’s health and development, parent and family engagement and support, and early childhood education.

Prior to coming to the Alliance, Beverly worked for over three years as the Director of Early Childhood Health Care Integration at Let's Grow Kids. Previously she worked for over 20 years as the Director of Planning and Government Relations for the Vermont Visiting Nurse Association - now known as UVM Home Health and Hospice.

Beverly was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has an undergraduate degree in Health Planning and Administration from Penn State University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. She and her husband chose Vermont as their home and have raised two daughters in Shelburne.

Support USM – Turn in Free/Reduced Meal Form by Friday

As a result of Hunger Free Vermont’s advocacy efforts this past spring, school meals will continue to be free for every student in Vermont this coming school year.  Even though meals are free, filling out your Free and Reduced-Price School Meals application is as important as ever.  

Providing this information to your school helps them maintain Universal School Meals (USM) for everyone, regardless of income. In fact, schools need to collect completed forms in order to get access to critical funding will make the USM program possible in the future.

The applications are due this Friday! Please check with your local school for more information and for copies of the application.

Preschool Development Grant Survey – Deadline Monday, Oct. 3

Building Bright Futures is coordinating Vermont’s application for a federal Preschool Development Grant (PDG). The application provides an exciting opportunity for us to propose a variety of programs that will enhance outcomes for young children and families.

The turnaround for this application is very quick. To help inform the development of our state’s application, please answer a very brief survey by Monday, Oct. 3 about what priorities you’d like to elevate for use of any PDG funds we are awarded.

Action Circles is Hiring

Action Circles is hiring two Legislative Assistants for the upcoming 2023 Legislative Session. These positions are temporary and can be structured as internship opportunities if needed.

Legislative Assistants will develop a deep knowledge about the legislative process, including how a bill becomes law, Statehouse procedures and jargon, the development of the annual state budget, and who the key players are for key issues. They will monitor committee work related to clients’ issues and goals, observe the committee process in the Statehouse and provide detailed notes from committee meetings and hearings.
